Vienna in March

Spring is coming in fits and starts this year. Feeling some cabin fever, I ventured out to find one of Vienna’s many Easter markets.

On my first attempt, I ended up at the Spanish Riding School. No Easter market. But, horses!

Not bad for a stable.
Lipizzaners!

Take two: Success at Schönbrunn Palace, the emperor’s “summer” residence. (Click any photo to launch a bigger, prettier gallery view.)

Want one more view of the palace? Here’s a panorama of the front. We’ll definitely come back and do a more formal “palace tour” when the grounds are in full bloom. But even on a dreary day, it’s still a spectacular place.

  1. I’m so jealous, Sandy! We’re wishing for spring in WI too, but you’ve got so much cooler things to do while you wait it out!
